"Device of a caduceus held by a hand emerging from a cloud; at the top a book and a dove. On a tablet the words Love and Lyve, and on two scrolls the words Nosce te ipsum and Ne quid nimis. Across the device the name BAL-D WIN. (α) As described. Passed to John Charlewood at an unknown date. (β) "BAL" and "WIN" cut away. Passed to James Roberts in 1593. Probably passed to William Jaggard in 1606; to Isaac Jaggard in 1623, and to Thomas Cotes in 1627. (γ) Lower rule absent."
Framed device of a rose, a gillyflower and another flower on one stalk; with Heb Ddieu heb ddim and the initials R. I. Passed to William Jaggard in or before 1615. The intermediate history of the block is obscure. Passed from William to Isaac Jaggard in 1623, and from Isaac to Thomas and Richard Cotes in 1627. Passed to Richard Cotes alone in 1641.
