En 1640, travaille en association avec le libraire Ralph Smith
Imprimeur-libraire. - En apprentissage chez le libraire de Londres Nicholas Bourne, qui le quittance en fév. 1620. Pendant deux ans, tient boutique chez son ancien maître, pour qui il semble travailler. Publie en 1646 "The Humble Remonstrance and petition of the Lord Mayor, aldermen and commons of the City of London". Prend les armes pour le Parlement au début de la guerre civile et devient colonel. Représente le "Ward of Cornhill" au "Common Council". Impliqué dans une guerre de pamphlets entre Presbytériens et Indépendants. Se retire vers 1650

Three Golden Lyons, Cornhill; noted publisher of Americana; apprenticed to Nicholas Bourne; freed Feb. 1620; continued to work for Bourne until about 1622; at outbreak of Civil War took up arms for Parliament and given rank of colonel; also represented the Ward of Cornhill on the Common Council; published The humble remonstrance and petition of the Lord Mayor Aldermen & Commons of the City of London, 1646, and soon became involved in a pamphlet war between the Presbyterians and Independents; retired about 1650; died Jan. 20 1653/4)
