General Note

Die Tochter des Hamburger Buchhändlers Johann Christoph Kissner führte nach dem Tod ihres Mannes Christian Herold die Heroldsche Buchhandlung fort; sie wurde dabei unterstützt von ihren Söhnen Johann Henrich Herold (1742-1810) u. Christian Herold (geb. 1750, ab 1778 Teilhaber). Nach ihrem Tod führten die beiden Söhne Sortiment u. Verlag bis ca. 1796 weiter u. firmierten als "Gebrüder Herold", während der jüngste Sohn Johann Gottlieb (geb. 1751) einen eigenen Verlag begründete.
