General Note

Born 5 October 1784, son of Hector Gavin (1738-1814), engraver, Edinburgh, and Gilles Wilson. Burgess of before (14 March 1811 entered so in index but not in record) Guild Brother 21 October 1818. Married Marion Walker, sister to William Walker, engraver 11 November 1814. In 1856 he went to live with a married daughter, and died 1 March 1874. Lithographer 1844-45.
