General Note

2nd son of Bsp. Patrick Forbes of Corse, was born in 1593, educ. King's Coll. Aberdeen 1607-12, Heidelberg 1612-15 and Sedan 1615-18; licensed to preach 1619, ordained Aberdeen, 1st Prof of Divinity at King's Coll. 1620-34, 36-41 (due to early death of his successor Andrew Strachan), D.D. 1620, elected to the third charge of Aberdeen 1634, rector 1634-6, succeeded to estate of Corse 1635, exiled Campvere, Netherlands 1643 or 1644 for, returned 1646, d. Corse Castle 1648. From Provenance Catalogue: The second son of Bishop Patrick Forbes of Corse was born in 1593, educated at King's College, Heidelberg and Sedan and became first professor of divinity at King's College in 1619. This post he held with one break until being deposed in 1641 for not signing the Covenant. He died in 1648. He is noted as a benefactor to the library in that year.
