Schoolmaster. Born Harrow 1747. Attended Harrow School 1752-61, apprenticed to his father 1761. Matriculated Emmanuel College, Cambridge 1765, but had to go down 1766 after the death of his father. First Assistant at Harrow School 1767. Ordained deacon 1769, served curacies at Willesden and Kingsbury. Started his own school at Stanmore 1771-7. Ordained priest 1775. Master at Colchester grammar school 1777. Headmaster of Norwich grammar school 1778-85. Perpetual curacy of Asterby, Lincolnshire 1780. L.L.D., Cambridge, 1781. Perpetual curacy of Hatton, Warwickshire 1783, taught private pupils there. Collated to the prebend of Wenlock Barnes 1783. Exchanged his curacy for the rectory of Wadenhoe, Northamptonshire, 1789, but this was a purely legal arrangement, continued to live at Hatton and teach there. Gave up teaching 1798. Chaplain to Queen Caroline 1820. Died Hatton, 1825. Involved in some literary controversies. See 'Bibliotheca Parriana' London: Bohn, 1827.
