Homme d'État, partisan de Savonarole, occupa des charges importantes dans le gouvernement démocratique de Florence avant le retour des Médicis (1512), fut exilé à la chute de la République (1531). Vécut alors à Venise et fit oeuvre d'historien et de poète. A aussi traduit du latin en italien.
