Jüdischer Gelehrter und Autor der Haskala sowie Übersetzer aus dem Hebräischen; wirkte zunächst als Lehrer und Geschäftsmann in Galizien, Rumänien und Russland; seit 1865 in Wien, Mitbegründer der Zeitschrift "Haschachar"; 1868 Promotion in Göttingen, 1870/71 Erzieher in Neapel, später in Taganrog, Russland, seit 1895 ständig in Krakau.
