There's another copy of this portrait, once in the Andrew Coventry's collection in Edinburgh. Both of the paintings could be copies after a lost portrait painted by Claudio Ridolfi, who, according to Duke Francesco Maria II's account book, portrayed the little prince three times. One of these painting, depicting the Prince in civilian clothes holding a falcon, is kept in the Uffizi gallery.
