geb. te Delft; aanhanger van Melchior Hoffman (ca. 1495-1543/44), 'Melchiorieten'; later werden aanhangers van hem genaamd: Davidjoristen (ná 1536, m.n. in Holland, Friesland en Oost-Friesland); vluchtte in 1539 naar Antwerpen (1539-1544), waarna hij tot zijn dood in Basel leefde (leverde in 1554 nog een bijdrage aan een polemiekboek over 'vervolging van ketters' van de Zwitser Sebastian Castellio (1515-1563))
