Buchhändler in Leipzig. -Trat 1681 in die Buchhandlung seines verstorbenen Schwiegervaters Johann Fritsch ein, übergab dessen Geschäft 1693 an seinen Stiefsohn Thomas Fritsch und gründete gleichzeitig eine eigene Sortiments- und Verlagsbuchhandlung (1714 auch: Jo. Frider. Gleditsch et Filius). - 1689 auch in Merseburg?

Après 14 ans d'apprentissage et de service à Wittenberg, il vient en mars 1681 travailler à Leipzig chez Johann Fritsch, dont il épouse la veuve en nov. 1681. Dirige l'officine Fritsch sous son nom avant de la transmettre en 1693-1694 à son beau-fils Thomas Fritsch et de monter une autre affaire sous son nom. Son fils Johann Gottlieb Gleditsch lui succède en 1716 après lui avoir été un temps associé
